Graduate Student Scholarship (Clinical) Epidemiologist / Evidence Based Health Care specialist (m/f)

Job description
  • Coordinate the activities related to the further development of the Center for Evidence-Based Health Care in Eastern Africa, which is supported by the Royal Tropical Institute;
  • Develop partnerships with national and international organizations involved in epidemiological research, evidence based health care practice;
  • Actively seek funding for continuous support of the center ;
  • Participate in Research in developing countries concerning the implementation of Evidence Based Health Care;
  • Participate in the department’s activities including research, training and advice.

Requirements

  • Preferentially a Medical Degree or Masters in health sciences with speciality in Epidemiology or Evidence Based Health Care, or equivalent expertise
  • Knowledge and proved work in the field of Evidence Based Medicine
  • Experience in the field of epidemiological and/or clinical research
  • Working experience in developing countries and/or with development agencies
  • Proven research, management and writing skills
  • Fluency in verbal and written English
  • Strong coordination skills
  • Excellent communication skills and awareness of intercultural relationships
  • Shows initiative and creativity; independent worker and team player
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel overseas for short missions (2 to 3 weeks) on a regular basis

Conditions of employment

The initial appointment is for one year, subject to renewal.

The salary based on age, qualifications and experience is between € 3.317,- and € 4.554,- gross per month (scale 11) in a 38-hour week. Working part-time is a possibility.

In addition, there is an 8% holiday allowance, admission to the KIT pension fund (ABP) and opportunities for training and personal development.
